I lived in Ecuador almost three years and my experiences there have had tremendous impact on my life.  Below is a short list of articles I wrote about the place.

La Mama Negra

A description of a chaotic festival in the Andes.  Published in South American Explorers Magazine, issue #92.   (on SAE website  |  current issue)

Ecuador: Climbing Volcanoes

Climbing the world's tallest active volcano; Cotopaxi.  Published in South American Explorers Magazine, issue # 94.  (on SAE website  |  current issue)

A New Leader for Ecuador

Published in ADBUSTERS magazine issue #73 (2007), the article focuses on the rise of Rafeal Correa and the emerging revolutionary government he leads.

21st Century Socialism in Ecuador?

I wrote this in 2009 and needless to say my opinion of the "revolutionary" government changed a lot since I wrote the ADBUSTERS article.  The first article was written shortly after the "citizens revolution" began, the second was  written shortly after I was deported for the second time in two years from the nation.

Ecuador: In the Aftermath of a Police Revolt (2010)

The military frees the president from police captivity, killing 10 people and injuring hundreds more in the process.  When can we call Rafael Correa a dictator?

Rough overview of the non-fiction book I am currently writing: Illegal

The book focuses on my deportation from Ecuador the following year I spent living illegally in the country after sneaking back in from Colombia.  This is the most important project I have right now.  Contact me if you think you can help make it a success.
